Teeth Whitening

Sydney's Most Popular Dental Treatment

Teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dental treatments in Sydney, and the number one most requested cosmetic procedure in the world. If you’re ready to start the journey to a brighter smile (and let’s face it, you wouldn’t be reading this if you weren’t), whitening could be the option for you.

Ashfield Dental Centre uses the Philips Zoom! whitening system to provide bright, long-lasting whitening. Both in-chair and take-home options are available with different treatment types that safely suit your needs.

Zoom! delivery options available

A quick, easy way to whiten your teeth is with our in-chair treatment option. Zoom is equipped with variable settings of intensity to customise treatment to you. You’ll also receive desensitisers that minimise any tooth sensitivity and protect enamel.

This procedure is clinically proven to safely whiten your teeth up to eight shades brighter in a single visit taking around 1 hour.

During your in-office appointment you will be fitted with custom made mouth trays which you can use to administer your whitening treatment at home and your dentist will recommend an ideal whitening system.

You’ll bring home customised whitening trays that perfectly fit your upper and lower teeth and syringes loaded with a whitening gel. You can complete treatment at your convenience, with the total time taking about two weeks.

FAQ about philips Zoom!

What side effects are involved?

Some people have reported sensitivity of the teeth and gums post-treatment. We’ll evaluate your oral health to ensure you’re a candidate for teeth whitening and give you the correct concentration of whitening gel to lessen any sensitivity.

Do over-the-counter whitening products work just as well?

You can buy different products at the shop that claim to whiten your smile. These, however, aren’t tailored to you, your teeth and desired goals, nor are the trays fitted to your teeth. You won’t know if you’re using the correct intensity of gel or the proper duration of treatment.

Why do teeth become discoloured?

The causes include drinking coffee, tea and red wine, eating foods that stain such as berries, medications, ageing, smoking or trauma to the mouth.

How long will the results last?

The effects of whitening can be reduced as they become stained by certain food and beverages or the aging process. The maintenance of your results can be performed at regular intervals. Philips Zoom products include agents to reduce fading.

Is teeth whitening for everyone?

Teeth whitening is safe and effective in most people, but it may not be right for everyone.  Crowns, bridges, fillings and veneers will not be whitened by the Zoom! in-office or at-home procedures, and some people may have adverse reactions. If you have any concerns about whether or not whitening is right for you, be sure to voice your concerns when you book your appointment.

Tooth sensitivity is a common side effect of teeth whitening. The Zoom! whitening system used by Ashfield Dental Centre comes with desensitisers to help reduce sensitivity and protect your enamel. It generally goes away after you’ve completed the whitening process.
