Restoring your smile

At Ashfield Dental Centre, our goal is to provide you with dentures that are lifelike, comfortable and customised for your individual needs. We love helping our patients regain the confidence to speak, eat and smile without feeling self-conscious.

Why Choose Dentures

Dentures are used to repair your smile after you lose one or more teeth, as well as helping to improve the way your mouth looks. They can improve your ability to chew food, speak normally and continue with normal life after tooth loss.

Dentures are one of the most common tooth replacement methods and are suitable for most cases of missing teeth. They are also easy to clean and care for, cost-effective and can be a game-changer if you’ve suffered from major tooth loss.

Options Available

Ashfield Dental Centre is can provide two types of denture. Our acrylic and chrome cobalt dentures each have their own merits.

Acrylic Dentures

Acrylic dentures are the most cost effective and easy way to replace your missing teeth. They can also be easily added to (so you won’t have to get a whole new denture if you lose another tooth), and can be relined if they start to get loose. Many people use them as a temporary denture while they are waiting for an implant or considering a chrome cobalt denture.

The downside is that they’re made up of thick acrylic, which can feel awkward in your mouth until you get used to it and may affect your speech for a little while until you get used to them. Acrylic dentures can also break more easily than other alternatives, so they need to be used and cared for carefully.

Chrome Cobalt Dentures

Chrome Cobalt dentures take longer to make and cost more but are stronger and longer-lasting. Their thin frame doesn’t affect speech as much as the acrylic denture can and many people find them more comfortable to wear. Their metal frame can also be used to preserve the bone from extracted teeth. This enables you to have an implant in the future if you change your mind about having dentures.

The downside of chrome cobalt dentures is that they’re harder to add to if you lose another tooth. Your denture may need a good deal of work to repair your smile again, or you may need to get another denture entirely.
