Dental Veneers

Revolutionise your smile

Dental veneers are an easy way to revolutionise your smile. They’re carefully crafted custom-made facings specially moulded to suit your individual smile and coloured to blend seamlessly in with your natural teeth, delivering a bright, flawless smile that’s sure to impress.

Veneers can be used to close gaps and spaces, lengthen short looking teeth or teeth that have been worn down, correct minor crowding or rotations in your smile, or can be used as part of a complete smile transformation.

Ashfield Dental Centre provides both porcelain and composite options for veneers, which can be fitted and applied at our clinic in Ashfield. We use only the finest materials to deliver smile transformations that last for years and look amazing.

Why types of veneers are available?

There are two types of dental veneers available. Each has its own merits and disadvantages, and your dentist will be able to help you choose the best option for your smile and budget.

Porcelain veneers are the more traditional option. They’re long-lasting, hard-wearing, and look incredibly natural, but can be expensive to produce and attach. They also can’t be repaired if they’re damaged, and will need to be completely replaced if something happens to them.

Composite resin veneers are made out of the same material which is typically used for filling teeth. They’re cheaper, can be repaired if they chip or crack, and can be completely applied in one visit to the dentist. However, they’re also more vulnerable to staining, require polishing to retain their shine, and need to be replaced more frequently than veneers.

Designing your new smile

Your dentist will take into account the way you talk, the facial expressions you make, and the results you’re looking for when planning out your transformation. They’ll also take into account any small issues that need to be corrected, and will make sure that your mouth’s functions (like speaking and eating) aren’t impacted by your veneers.

If you’re planning to get further cosmetic procedures done around your mouth (like lip injections), make sure you let your dentist know. Changes to your mouth and face structure can change the way your teeth look, and your dentist may need to accommodate this when designing your new smile. It may be best to have other procedures done before getting your veneers.

Are Dental Veneers right for me?

Dental veneers are a popular choice for creating a gorgeous smile, but they may not be right for everyone. If you have a pre-existing health condition (such as teeth grinding, jaw clenching, or nail biting), your veneers may not last as long as they could. If you have severe alignment concerns (which may require orthodontic treatment first), tooth or gum disease, or poor oral hygiene, veneers may not be as beneficial as they could be. To figure out if veneers are the right option for you, contact our clinic.

What can I expect at my appointment?

If you’re getting composite veneers, your appointment will be straightforward. Your dentist will select a shade of resin which matches your teeth, apply and shape it to compliment your smile, cure it with a special light to make it hard, then polish it to make it shine like your natural teeth. After the appointment, you can walk out of the clinic with a brand new smile, ready to impress.

The process for porcelain veneers is a little different. Your dentist will remove a very thin (about 0.33mm) layer of enamel from your teeth, take an impression of them, and send the mould to the lab which will make your veneers. You’ll have temporary veneers attached while your permanent ones are being made, and you’ll have to come back to the clinic again to have the final ones secured in place with tooth cement. After they’re attached, you’ll be all set!
